Allen+Pepa Architects was formed in 2007 from a fusion of Lane Allen Architects and Perihelion, Ltd., two established architectural firms serving Kane County and the Fox River Valley region.

Lane Allen Architects of Batavia was founded in 1999 and focused it's work in the southern Fox Valley area, including the urban areas of Aurora, Oswego, and Batavia. Lane grew up in Batavia and made a career choice to return to his hometown area to plant his professional roots. He has a deep interest in the future of the Fox Valley communities and has long been involved in the revitalization efforts of Batavia and Aurora, including involvement in Batavia's MainStreet organization and Aurora's Seize the Future development commission.

Perihelion, Ltd. of Elgin was founded by Eric Pepa in 1998 and focused on the northern Fox Valley area including Elgin, St. Charles, Dundee, Barrington and Crystal Lake. Growing up in the Elgin area, Eric had seen Elgin's reputation and vitality fade over the years. One of his primary reasons for returning to Elgin was that he saw the great urban potential of this city and a committed group of residents and politicians with a vision for realizing this potential.

After meeting at an AIA function, Lane and Eric collaborated on several projects and came to realize that their shared philosophies, complementary abilities, and strong interests in the Fox Valley downtowns could lead to a sucessful partnership that would serve the entire region. As a team, Lane and Eric have developed a business model that will allow them to design quality buildings, develop properties and improve the built environment of the entire Fox Valley region. Together they hope to see Allen+Pepa Architects become one of the premier architecture firms of Kane County.
