A husband and wife team wished to create an inviting and lively casual lunch restaurant and deli for the nearby Huntley Sun City clientele. The 3000 sq. ft. space required a variety of cooking and prep areas, as well as refrigerated display areas for the sale of fresh produce.

This dental office for Dr. Tom Jackson was designed as a renovation of an existing “turn of the century” Victorian house along a main thoroughfare in downtown Barrington. While the exterior of the home was in relatively good condition, years of additions and modifications had made the interior spaces unappealing. The entire first floor was gutted in order to allow for a new configuration for this dental office. The rear entrance became the main vestibule into a new reception area and waiting room. The reception / office area is the central core around which the operatories, lab, sterilization area and public space wrap. Two of the main operatories face the original street front view through the original windows. This careful blending of Victorian charm with modern spaces and amenities provides a unique atmosphere to a practice that is built on an appreciation of aesthetics.

Dr. Fedyna Dental Office

This 2,400sf dental office in an upscale community was designed to achieve a “wow” factor immediately upon entering the office. Built in a professional office campus, the level of service and quality are immediately apparent from the time one enters the building, views the inlaid wood reception desk and the rippled glass french doors. A consultation room with full height curved glass wall provides an elegant image as one proceeds to the exam rooms. This office makes one feel at home without being overly grand.

This project entailed a total gutting and restoration of the former Elk’s Lodge, a two story, 16,000sf English Tudor structure in Downtown Elgin back to its former 1920’s grandeur. Because of the state of disrepair, the building required structural and environmental analysis. The original ballroom was left in place. Windows and doors were repaired and reused. Existing oak and maple flooring was sanded and re-finished. New insulation and all new mechanical systems were installed. New trim was created to match existing trim and the exquisite lobby stair was repaired. The building has been transformed into a modern, elegant and fully used facility.

High Technology Sales – Office

A 3,200sf office build-out for an electronic components sales and marketing company. Interior private offices have a grid of frosted and clear glass panels in keeping with an image of sharp, modern sensibility as well as being reminiscent of random electronics terminals.

American Cancer Society Building

This former warehouse was renovated into 7 modern office suites for use by the American Cancer Society. The interior reflects the rustic flavor of the building, and features exposed heavy timber beams and columns and natural limestone walls. A new entry replaced the former loading dock, creating a new “primary third” connecting the two massive limestone buildings at either side of the entrance and establishing a new identity for the building.
