Blackberry Farm, operated by the Fox Valley Park District, is a living history museum dedicated to educating children about pioneer life through hands-on learning. At the park is a restored model train offering rides to visitors. The Park District needed a storage building for this train in the winter and for its tractors in the Summer. Allen + Pepa Architects coordinated with civil engineers to design a flexible storage barn to meet these unique needs, on a site very close to the flood plain, all while matching the whimsical nature of Blackberry Farm’s other buildings.
