The Grand Army of the Republic Memorial Hall (aka “The GAR”) owned by the City of Aurora and originally built in 1877 has been going under renovations to preserve the structure and convert the space into a military history museum. A+P was hired to finish the final stage of renovating the lower level with as much open-display cabinetry as possible. One of our primary focus was on designing the custom built display cases that not only display the exhibits well but also allowed the granite and limestone walls to remain visible.
